The ICC Champions Trophy 2009 will be contested by eight teams. The teams divided into two groups, A and B. Each team will play every other team in the group. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semifinals. The winner of Group A will play the runner up of Group B and the winner of Group B will play the runner up of Group A. The winners of the semifinals will contest for the Champions Trophy in final.
Group A: Australia, India, Pakistan, West Indies
Group B: South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, England
Point system will apply is following.
Win: 2 points
Tie of No result: 1 point
