India's first World Cup

In the first World Cup, India faced 202 runs loss of their first match. England had given a target of 334. India scored 132 runs from 60 overs with loss of three wickets only. The opener Sunil Gavaskar scored an unbeaten 36 runs from 174 balls. Gundappa Viswanath was the highest scorer – 37.
