1975 Cricket World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup was started on 1975. The edition was held from June 7 to 21, 1975 in England. The 1975 Cricket World Cup was sponsored by Prudential Assurance Company. The tournament was officially known as Prudential Cup. Eight teams were the participants. These were the six Test playing teams of that time and Sri Lanka and East Africa. The Test playing nations are Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and West Indies.

The tournament format was round robin and knockout. The preliminary matches were played in tow groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group played the semi-final. The winners of semi-finals played in the final match for the world cup.

Total matches played in the tournament are 15. The matches were played as 60 overs (6 balls per over) per side. The all matches were played in day. The teams are in traditional clothing and with red balls.
