First hundred in World Cup

The first hundred in World Cup was by Dennis Leslie Amiss of England. He scored 137 runs off 147 balls against India at the first match of the World Cup 1975. But New Zealand’s Glenn Turner was beaten an unbeaten 171 runs off 201 runs against East Africa at same day. It was highest score in World Cup till 1983 June 18.
